Hair rinses are so simple to make, they naturally condition your hair and scalp. They add shine, increase body, enhance natural highlights and soften.
This is my first homemade herbal hair rinse! I am so excited, I love making my own stuff. I have bought hair rinses before and thought, “this would be so easy to make myself!” So here I am making it and sharing it with you – double fun!
The first step is to infuse the herbs in water. You can either boil the herbs in water or else pour boiling water over the herbs and allow them to steep overnight. This will give you a stronger infusion and will preserve the water-soluble nutrients. For this one I boiled the herbs because I wanted to be able to use it that day!
So, here we go! I decided to use Nettle and Rose as my herbs. I know that nettle is really good for the hair and I figured rose would be a good addition.
Now that I have made my rinse, how do I use it?
Rinse your hair with it silly!
When you rinse your hair with it, use a bowl to catch the liquid and repeat a few times. Make sure to massage the liquid into your hair and scalp. Then either rinse it out or just allow your hair to dry.
The herbs do their magic and the vinegar helps restore your hairs pH balance. Vinegar is especially beneficial for oily hair, itchy scalp, dandruff, dull hair and other scalp conditions. Nettle is rich in iron so it can help combat hair loss/promote hair growth. Nettles can also help with an imbalance of sebum (the oil that your pores produce) which can can help dandruff or dry scalp.
I did some reading and found some other herbs that are great for using in a hair rinse. You can adapt this recipe to use any of these herbs or a combination of them. Remember: 4 cups water, 1 – 2 tablespoons herb and 1 tablespoon vinegar.
